So you have a new kitten and you are looking for suitable Siamese kitten names for it. This process can be a lot of fun, but remember that once you pick a name you could be stuck with that choice for many years to come - so choose wisely. Many people decide to hold off choosing a name until the kitten has had a few days to settle in and this is a good idea because it gives you a chance to match the name to the personality of the kitten as it develops. What may seem like a cute name for a little kitten now may be wildly inappropriate for a full-grown adult cat!
Below I have listed the main things I think you need to consider when picking out a name for your new pet:
Some kittens make their personalities known very early. If this is the case with your Siamese, you may want to name them based on one of their personality traits. For example, if they run around your home at the speed of light, you could call them Flash.
Your kitten’s looks could inspire your choice of name. You could call a Chocolate Point kitten Coco, or if you have a Lilac Point you could call her Lily. You could also take inspiration from the well-known Siamese body shape and call your kitten something like Willow.
Don’t
get me wrong: I think it’s great to think outside the box and give your cat a
name that is truly unique - just be sure it’s something you are happy to shout
in public. If you plan on letting your cat outside, chances are at some point
you will be stood at your back door calling your cat’s name. Therefore it needs
to be a name you will happily shout in front of your neighbours. Even if you
don’t plan on letting your cat outside, their name will still be called out
every time you visit the vets
Did you get your cat at a special time of year? I adopted two of my cats in December. They were originally called Ivy and Liz, but I hated the name Liz. As I adopted them just before Christmas I changed Liz’s name to Holly, meaning I had more festive cats called Holly and Ivy.
Other festive names you may consider are: Noel, Claus, Gabriel, Jesus, Joseph, Nicholas, Rudolph or Mary.
If you have more than one cat, it can be a great idea to pick which names go together. This works best if you get the cats around the same time.
As Siamese cats originally came from Thailand, it could be nice to give your Siamese kitten a name from Thailand.
http://www.behindthename.com/names/usage/thai - this site has a great list of Thai names, each with a brief description of their meaning.
My personal favourites include:
Kanda, which means beloved in Thai
Mali, which means flower in Thai
The following Siamese kitten names can be used for either your new Siamese kitten, or any kind of kitten for that matter! These may give you an idea or some inspiration if you are trying to decide upon a name for your bundle of fur.
No matter what kind of kitten you have, look through these names and see if you can find something that you like or that gives you some ideas for new and inventive names. Remember, the world is your oyster when it comes to choosing kitten names – not all cats have to have typical 'cat' names like Tiddles! Think of your favourite movie characters, cartoons, programs, and books to see whether you can get some inspiration from those or look at some of the famous names in history to get some ideas about a great name for your new kitten.
